Distribution of Nutrients and Chlorophyll-a in the Coastal Area of the Bosphorus (turkey)

چکیده
The aim of this paper was to establish the annual variations in nutrient and chlorophyll-a concentrations. Samples were collected from June 2003 to May 2004 at five stations in the coastal waters of the Bosphorus. Nitrate+nitrite, phosphate and silicate concentrations in winter were higher than other sampling periods. Chlorophyll-a concentrations ranged between 0.54 and 6.13 μg l .

Assessing Chlorophyll-a in the Southwestern Coastal Waters of the Caspian Sea
Caspian Sea with an average depth of 27m is the largest enclosed water body in the world. Despite its enormity and valuable biotic and economic resources, investigations on the biota and seawater properties are mosaic at best. In previous studies, the monitoring of the chlorophyll-a concentrations in the Southern Caspian Sea was organized based on satellite data sets however, vertical dis...
متن کاملThe Relationships between Chlorophyll-a Dynamics, Certain Physical and Chemical Variables in the Temperate Eutrophic Çaygören Reservoir, Turkey
The Çaygören Reservoir was sampled monthly from February 2007 to January 2009 at three stations to determine the relationships between the chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) dynamics and soluble reactive phosphorus (SRP), nitrate-nitrogen (NO3-N), ammonium-nitrogen (NH4-N), water discharge, water transparency, water temperature (T), specific conductance (SC) and pH. Thermal stratification occurred in the re...
متن کاملSeasonal Variations of Seawater Properties in the Southwestern Coastal Waters of the Caspian Sea
Seasonal variations of the seawater properties (e.g. temperature, salinity, density and chlorophyll-a) in western part of the southern coastal waters of the Caspian Sea near the Iranian coast were studied. A portable CTD probe was applied for profiling from sea surface to bottom at 23 stations. Maximum depth of the profiling stations was more than 470 m in the study area. Vertical structure of ...
متن کاملON A FUZZY APPLICATION OF THE PARTICULATE MATTERS ESTIMATION
The Bosphorus (Istanbul Strait) that connects the continents of Europe and Asia is too complex due to geographical conditions and have a continuously increasing maritime traffic. The length of the Bosphorus which connect the Black Sea and the Marmara Sea is 29.9 km. The number of ships (Tanker, general Cargo and bulk carrier) passing through the Istanbul strait was recorded as 42553 in 2016 an...
متن کاملEutrophication and trophic status using different indices: A study in the Iranian coastal waters of the Caspian Sea
The aim of this study is to assess the eutrophication and trophic status based on different indices and also reference threshold values in the Iranian coastal waters of the southern Caspian Sea (ICWSCS). The water samples (three replicates) were collected along four transects (off the coast from Anzali, Tonekabon, Nowshahr and Amirabad) between spring 2013 and winter 2014. The results show mark...
